Sara De Simone

Sara De Simone (1987) was born in Caserta and lives in Rome. She holds a degree in Romance Philology from La Sapienza University in Rome and a PhD in Comparative Literature from the Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa. She translated with Nadia Fusini the correspondence between Virginia Woolf and Vita Sackville-West (Scrivi sempre a mezzanotte, Donzelli, 2019; Feltrinelli 2023). She edited and translated La vita della vita. Diari di Katherine Mansfield (Donzelli 2023, De Sanctis Foundation Prize for Short Essay). She edited the introduction to the poems of Emily Dickinson (Einaudi Tascabili, 2023). She is the author of Nessuna come lei. Katherine Mansfield e Virginia Woolf: storia di un’amicizia (Neri Pozza) with which she won the Rapallo Prize - Nonfiction Section 2023, and of L’atto sospeso. Azione e inazione dell’eroe dall’Iliade a Virginia Woolf (Viella, 2024). She contributes to the cultural pages of “il manifesto,” “La Stampa,” and “Il Tascabile,” and is the author of cycles and monographic episodes on Rai Radio 3. She is one of the authors of the podcast “Geneologies” born from the collaboration between Solferino and Corriere della Sera with Inquiete Festival, for which she edited four episodes dedicated to Emily Dickinson. She is the creator and artistic director of the festival Eccentriche. Storie di donne fuori dal comune, which takes place every autumn in Bologna.
