Gli arancini di Montalbano / Montalbano’s new year’s eve

Twenty short stories first published in 1999, twenty stories of happy invention where the reader will be delighted by a Montalbano “of the origins” and where the sidekicks can become protagonists (Catarella, for example, solves a case). Camilleri as an authentic story-teller enjoys creating situations in which the commissioner’s sense of humanity gets the better of observance of the law, but if he turns a blind eye he does so out of a sense of justice.
